Each year, during the first week of March, we come together to celebrate our Bespoke Cornish Curriculum—a special week of learning that honours our heritage and marks St Piran’s Day, the national day of Cornwall. This week provides rich opportunities for pupils to explore Cornish history, language, landscape, art, music and traditions, helping them develop a strong sense of identity and pride in the place they call home.
Through storytelling, performance, local studies, making, and shared cultural moments, children gain a deeper understanding of what makes Cornwall unique—and their place within its story.
Our Cornish Curriculum celebrates where we live, strengthens belonging, and helps every child understand that their heritage is something to cherish, explore and celebrate. Importantly, it also provides a meaningful foundation for those who may not have been born in Cornwall, or whose families have chosen to settle here. By learning about local history, culture and traditions, these children develop a deeper connection to their new community, building a sense of inclusion, ownership and pride in being part of Cornwall’s story too.
