Nancledra Children

Pupil Premium

At Nancledra School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils, regardless of background or circumstance, have access to a rich, ambitious and inclusive education. Pupil Premium funding is used strategically to remove barriers to learning, improve outcomes and ensure that every child can flourish socially, emotionally and academically.

The Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools to help improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and to reduce the attainment gap between these pupils and their peers. It enables schools to provide targeted support, remove barriers to learning and ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed.

Schools receive Pupil Premium funding for pupils who:

  • are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
  • have been eligible for FSM at any point during the previous six years
  • are looked after by a local authority, have previously been looked after, or have left care through adoption, a special guardianship order, residence order or child arrangements order
  • have a parent serving in the armed forces (Service Pupil Premium)

How We Use Pupil Premium Funding

At Nancledra School, we use a tiered approach to ensure that funding has the greatest possible impact. This approach is informed by research from the Education Endowment Foundation and focuses on three key areas:

High-Quality Teaching

The most effective way to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils is through excellent teaching. We invest in staff development, high-quality curriculum resources and professional learning to ensure all pupils receive an ambitious and engaging education.

Targeted Academic Support

Some pupils benefit from additional support to help them achieve their full potential. This may include small-group or one-to-one interventions in reading, phonics and mathematics, carefully matched to individual needs.

Wider Strategies

We recognise that barriers to learning can extend beyond the classroom. Funding is therefore used to support attendance, wellbeing, emotional development and access to enrichment opportunities. This may include Thrive provision, therapeutic support, Forest School experiences, educational visits, residential trips and practical assistance with uniform or other school-related costs.

Our Commitment

We regularly review the impact of our Pupil Premium strategy to ensure funding is used effectively and continues to meet the needs of our pupils. Our aim is to provide every child with the support, opportunities and experiences they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Please see our current Pupil Premium Strategy Statement below for further information about our priorities, planned expenditure and the impact of previous funding.
