Music at Nancledra School is a vibrant and valued part of our curriculum, taught as a subject in its own right and celebrated across the whole school community. Our bespoke Music Curriculum provides every child from EYFS to Year 6 with a strong foundation in musical skills, knowledge and creativity. Through practical, skills‑based lessons led by a specialist music teacher, pupils develop confidence in singing, composing, notation and instrumental performance.
Children learn a wide range of instruments—including recorders, tuned percussion, ukulele and whole-class violin—and enjoy rich opportunities to perform at renowned venues such as the Minack Theatre, Truro Cathedral and Hall for Cornwall. Our active school choir, open to all Key Stage 2 pupils, shares music within the community and has taken part in events including the BBC Children in Need Choir and performances for visiting world leaders.
We are proud to be a Music Mark School and holders of Artsmark Gold, reflecting our commitment to high-quality music education. At Nancledra, we believe music nurtures personal growth as well as musical skill, and we aim for every child to leave us as a confident, expressive and proud performer.
