Porthgwarra Class

Porthgwarra Class

Porthgwarra Class is home to our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, who take on new challenges, deepen their knowledge, and develop the independence and responsibility they will carry with them into secondary school. In this class, children enjoy a rich, broad curriculum designed to extend their thinking, build confidence, and prepare them for the next stage of their education. Our older pupils also act as role models for the rest of the school, taking on leadership roles and supporting whole‑school events.

We name this class after Porthgwarra, a beautiful and secluded cove in West Cornwall known for its rugged cliffs, clear waters, and fascinating history as a former fishing community.  The cove sits between Land’s End and Porthcurno and is famous for its peaceful setting, old fishermen’s tunnels, and appearances in the BBC series Poldark.

Just as Porthgwarra is a place of natural beauty, exploration, and inspiration, our Porthgwarra Class encourages curiosity, resilience, and a sense of adventure in learning.
